How purple is your prose?

Purple prose is bad. Really bad. But that doesn't mean it isn't fun to mock. Warning: this blog contains foul language, adult situations and a whiny bitch.

Time Complete List...or things I've yet to read...

Okay, Kids, I'm about to reveal my ignorance here, Time Magazine has released the top 100 novels from 1923 to now...and I haven't read most of them. You can view the listhere.
Of the 100 I've read:
Are you there God, It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume
The Catcher in The Rye by JD Salinger
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck (I've never wished for death more)
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
I, Claudius by Robert Graves (parts of it)
1984 by George Orwell
On The Road by Jack Kerouac (again, only parts...not my thing)
that's eight, people! Out of 100! I'm practically illerate. But honestly of the 8 I've read, I've only enjoyed 3. Really 3. And how many have changed my life? Three. The other five were either assigned or things I felt I should read and really wish I hadn't. But, really how seriously can you take a list that doesn't include Douglas Adams or Hunter S Thompson? Come on!

Don't worry about it. I have only read eight too:
    -Animal Farm by George Orwell
-The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
-Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (I was fifteen when I read this and very optimistic, but I made it through. Now, I actually am no longer a fan of the film version.)
-The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
-Lord of the Flies by William Golding
-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
    -Possession by A.S. Byatt
-Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

Honestly, there are so many things to read out there (and some of it actually good) that I don't think it's a big deal if you have read all, nothing or a little something of classic literature. If it makes you feel any better, I am a grad student in classical archaeology and I still haven't read I, Claudius. :)

Love the blog. I will try to stop by more often. I got here via the Crusie/Mayer blog. Love those guys! :)

Lol, I minored in Classical Civ and still haven't finished I, Claudius!
You know, every female I know of read Gone with the Wind as a teenager (if they've read it all). Same with VC Andrews -- they're like teenage rites of passage, it seems.
I love Crusie/Mayer too, less than 1 week until the new book! Can't wait to read it.
    Thanks for stopping by, btw.
